About Us

The 'Associazione Guide Turistiche di Parma e Provincia' ( Association of Tour Guides for Parma and its Province ) was set up in 1988 as the first association grouping members of this category in the territory and city of Parma. At the moment there are 20 members each one of whom is an officially recognised guide holding the Provincial License. Each of our members holds a specific professional qualification or title which can be an honours degree in a branch of the arts or letters, history of art or cultural heritage conservation, foreign languages etc. and are fully qualified to perform their guide work in one or more of the following languages: English, French, German, Spanish and Russian.
Some of our members are also licensed to guide in other cities of Emilia, while others are licensed tour escorts both nationally and internationally.
In this way the Association, through its members, is able to suggest different itineraries which are in fact made to measure for the client according to specific needs, whether as a group or an individual, whether from cultural and musical associations, travel agents, tour operators or school groups of all ages.
We are also able to accompany visitors either individually or in groups on wine and food visits to structures within the typical production zone of Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, Parma ham, Culatello from Zibello and Salame from Felino.
The Association has always been involved with enhancing the value of the city of Parma and the territory of the province, collaborating with local government organisations for guided tours to museums, monuments and exhibitions, often suggesting little known itineraries and offering its own clients exclusive entrance tariffs to certain museums and castles.
